        RAMI J POUNCEY

Pastor Rami Pouncey was born and raised in San Diego, California. His parents, Mr. Elvin and the late Reverend Gloria Pouncey were very instrumental in shaping the character and faith of Pastor Rami. Pastor Rami accepted Christ at an early age in the Pentecostal church, spent several years at Highland Park Baptist Church, and at age 11, in June of 1989 joined Logan Temple  A.M.E. Zion Church in San Diego, CA. Pastor Rami has always had a great love for the church, and was very active in the Music Ministry and Christian Education, often representing his home conference, the Southwest Rocky Mountain Conference - A.M.E. Zion Church, as the youth delegate at the connectional C.E.D. Mid-Winter meetings.
In December of 2001, at age 23, after much struggle living for the world, Pastor Rami experienced a radical change in his life that led him to accept the call to the preaching ministry. He preached his initial sermon in January of 2002 at Logan Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in San Diego under the Pastoral leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Howard E. Haggler, Sr. In August of 2010, Pastor Rami and his family moved from San Diego, CA to Charlotte, NC. In September of that same year, they joined Steele Creek A.M.E. Zion Church under the spiritual leadership of Rev. Dr. J. Elvin Sadler. Under Dr. Sadler’s mentorship, Pastor Rami’s ministry continued to mature significantly. In December of 2013, Pastor Rami was ordained a Deacon in the A.M.E. Zion Church. Three years later He was ordained an Elder in the A.M.E. Zion Church on March 18, 2016.

On June 11, 2017, Pastor Rami was appointed by The Right Reverend W. Darin Moore to the Greater St John A.M.E. Zion Church in Cincinnati, OH. The ministry of Greater St John experienced tremendous spiritual growth during this six-year assignment. On June 4, 2023, Pastor Rami was appointed to lead the Greater Cooper A.M.E. Zion Church by Bishop Brian R Thompson. There is great expectation for what God will do through this partnership in this season. Pastor Rami is also working on his Master of Divinity at United Theological Seminary.

Pastor Rami is happily married to Reverend Eve C. Pouncey, and together they parent 19-year-old Joy Michele and 4-year-old Noel Grace. Together they are on a mission to exemplify God's love, challenge the believer's heart, and lead the lost into saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Rami has a special love for Leadership Development, Men’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Music Ministry. His God-inspired responsibility in life drives him: to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant. (Jeremiah 1:10)
